How To Be Happy When Single
As an another year ends a new year begins. This is a time in many people’s lives when one is feeling lonely, depressed and not looking forward to another year of being on your own whether by choice or due to being separated or divorced from your significant other.
This could be a time in your life when your mental health could be at a low and you are not sure what to do, tired of being alone and/or you are not sure how to pass the time each day.
So the way I see it, you have really 2 choices. You can live your life on your own, in misery and isolated from the world never to amount to much in society or the value you can contribute in others or to leave a lasting legacy OR you can be around others, live life to the fullest and do what makes you very happy in life whether it be travelling, being in nature or whatever it is that defines who you are as a person to the core, being a contributor to the community you live in.
There are people who say, “how can you be happy living on your own, being single with no one to be with or be around day to day”. Well to tell you the truth, I am still trying to figure that out myself as I go on my new journey down a new path I have never been on before. All my life I have always been with someone. I was either dating or eventually met the person I decided to marry, never being apart. There are days that I feel sad and alone in the world and then there are others where I feel empowered and free to express myself as I see fit either on my own or with friends, free to explore what Mother Nature has to offer or find a nice quiet peaceful place to sit and reflect/meditate on life of where I am and where I would like to go with it.
I am not ashamed to say that I am at a crossroad in my new journey. I am truly not sure if I would like to begin dating again or spend the remainder of my days being single. But for now I am trying to enjoy the life that was dealt to me. Lololol I guess time will tell.
The lessons that I have learnt in life has allowed me to focus on the benefits of being single. In no particular order this is what I have learnt……………..
Final Thoughts
Being single is all about priorities and what is important to you in your life. How do you beat the fear of being single or alone?? Well, as I mentioned earlier, I am still trying to work that out.
In my personal experience the first step is to love yourself for who you are, be proud of who you are at your core and don’t change who you are for anyone. We are all special in our own way.
Take the time to explore the many rich cultures that shape our world, the money that you save being single you can put into investments to allow you more freedom later in life. Allow yourself the flexibility of time to explore new experiences and hobbies or the passions you love to do either with friends, yourself or with a loving pet.
The world is your oyster. Get out and enjoy it!!!
Until next time my friends.
